Armenia (Armenian Հայաստան, transliteration ostem Armenian: Hajastan [hɑjɑstɑn], Western Armenian: Hajasdan [hɑjɑsdɑn]) is a land locked country in the Caucasus and lies in the highlands between Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkey. The state territory covers the northeastern part of the formerly much larger Armenian settlement area, which, however, rarely formed a united kingdom in the varied history of the country.
